Tuesday, May 22, 2018 – Live Briefing from the White House
On December 6, 2017, President Trump kept his promise, announcing that the United States would begin recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and officially open our Embassy there.
- Congress urged the President to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel with the bipartisan 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act – a call unanimously reaffirmed by the Senate in 2017.
- After decades of past Presidents committing to move the Embassy to Jerusalem on the campaign trail, only to renege on those promises while in office, President Trump has fulfilled his promise to support one of America’s strongest allies.
- More than two decades of waivers delaying the Embassy move brought us no closer to a lasting peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians.
- President Trump has made clear that old challenges demand new approaches, and that he will keep his word to the American people.
On May 14, 2018, the United States officially opened our Embassy in Jerusalem, Israel, 70 years to the day that President Truman recognized Israel as an independent country, making the United States the first nation to do so.
President Trump has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and advanced peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
Announcing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is simply a recognition of reality.
- Israel is a sovereign nation and, like every other sovereign nation, has the right to choose its own capital. Yet for 70 years we neglected to extend this basic courtesy to Israel that we extend to other countries.
- Jerusalem is the seat of the modern Israeli government. It is the home of the Israeli Parliament and the Israeli Supreme Court. It is the location of the official residence of the Prime Minister and President, as well as the headquarters of many government ministries.
STRIVING FOR PEACE: The Trump Administration continues to work to achieve a comprehensive peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians.
The Trump Administration remains committed to achieving a lasting and comprehensive peace agreement.
Recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital is a necessary condition for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
President Trump has been clear that his recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel does not mean the United States has taken a position on final status negotiations.
- The Trump Administration believes that such decisions should be worked between Israelis and Palestinians.
- The Trump Administration supports the status quo at Jerusalem’s holy sites.
FULFILLING PROMISES QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY: After announcing the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, President Trump quickly and efficiently opened the Embassy in Israel at a low cost to taxpayers.
President Trump opened the Embassy in Jerusalem in just six months, compared to the seven to ten years expected to build an entirely new and secure permanent embassy.
- Initial modifications allowing the Embassy to open on May 14, 2018, cost just $400,000.
United States diplomatic staff in Israel has worked around the clock to ensure the Embassy was ready to open by May 14, 2018.
The Trump Administration has begun updating all Federal Government maps to reflect Jerusalem’s status as Israel’s capital under American policy.
To celebrate the opening of the United States’ new Embassy in Jerusalem, the Trump Administration sent a high-level delegation, led by Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan and including Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin, Senior Advisor Jared Kushner, Senior Advisor Ivanka Trump, and Special Representative for International Negotiations Jason Greenblatt
PRESIDENT TRUMP’S HIGHER LOYALTY
by: Steven Rogers
As former FBI Director James Comey has been making several media rounds promoting his book, “A Higher Loyalty”, an overwhelming number of book review critics have concluded that the book is nothing more than a catalogue of innuendo, speculation, and opinions about President Trump’s character and loyalty, from a man who is on a mission to make money at the expense of the Trump administration
In addition to book review critics, many law enforcement practitioners on all levels of government agree that Comey tarnished the FBI by attacking the president.
For over thirty-eight years I spent my career in law enforcement investigating hundreds of crimes. My job as a supervisor and investigator was always to make sure that no stone was left unturned with regard to interviewing witnesses or gathering information and evidence in order for me to provide the prosecutor’s office with the information they needed to decide whether to proceed with charges or convene a grand jury.
Comey’s actions from the day he testified before a congressional committee regarding the Clinton emails, and to this very day, clearly show that his “Higher Loyalty” was never to the Constitution, our country, the FBI, or the oath of office he took. It appears that he conducted investigations by steering them toward a preconceived conclusion or manufactured outcome.
It is not necessary for me to focus on what we already know about how Comey conducted all of the investigations now being cherry-picked in the media.
But what I do focus on in this op-ed is Comey’s criticism and false conclusion regarding President Trump’s “Higher Loyalty”.
During the past year, my wife and I were invited to two White House receptions where we met and greeted many of the fine people working with President Trump. On both occasions, president Trump demonstrated exactly where is “Higher Loyalty” is.
The scene was simple. We were chatting with people for about ten minutes when the band suddenly started to play “Hail to the Chief” as president Trump and his wife Melania entered the room.
As everyone was applauding the President and Melania, the band stopped and the couple approached a podium in front of us to say a few words.
It was the first words spoken by this president who showed all of us in that room where his loyalty is. For those first words uttered from his lips was an explanation that before we begin, we should never forget that there is a God who we are responsible to and should be loyal to. He then asked for a moment of prayer for our nation and for God’s guidance.
President Trump does not need a book, does not have to go on a media tour, nor does he have to make any speeches to prove where his “Higher Loyalty” is. For his loyalty to God and Country was summed up in two short sentences at these White House receptions. “We should never forget that there is a God who we are responsible to and should be loyal to. Let’s pray for our nation and God’s guidance.” End
Secretary Sanders will give us real news from POTUS TRUMP – President Trump has been working all during the holidays in many different levels – Those who complain that he plays golf during his vacation should know: President Trump owns the golf courses he plays on – he is always up, always able to communicate with everyone that matters. He is always overseeing the safety and prosperity of America – He is always on the job – POTUS deserves a few hours of legitimate relaxation for his health and for his family. I am proud to support POTUS Trump. He loves us one and all! All his good works help all Americans and they help the world also.

My Fellow Americans,
I had the profound honor this week of addressing American troops at Fort Myer and speaking to thousands of veterans at the American Legion National Convention.
Today I want to speak to all Americans about what we can learn from the men and women of our incredible Armed Forces.
Every person who puts on the uniform makes our nation proud. They all come from across our land. They represent every race, ethnicity, and creed. But they all pledge the same oath, fight for the same cause, and operate as one team – with one shared sense of purpose.
They love their families. They cherish their freedom. They salute our flag. And above all, they believe in America.
Now, we must draw inspiration from their love and loyalty to one another – and to our nation – as we seek to heal divisions from within.
We must also remember what our service personnel know better than anyone: that we are one people, with one home, and one glorious American destiny.
We come from all different walks of life – but we all share the same dream – to live in peace and safety, to work with honor and dignity, and to build a better future for those we love.
Together, we can achieve this dream, but we must first remember who we are and the values that bind us together. We must speak out against the voices that try to sow hatred and division. We must treat our fellow citizens with love and affection. And we must honor our heroes – and prove worthy of the sacrifice they have made for all of us.
I ask every American to make a simple promise to the courageous warriors who fight in our name: when they come home from battle, they will find a country that has renewed the sacred bonds of loyalty that unite us together as one.
Only when we work together with a shared purpose will we carry on the proud tradition of those who came before us.
Only when we honor our history will we have confidence in our future.
And only when we strive for peace among one another will we remain a force for peace all around the world.
We can achieve this peace, we can foster this unity, and we can rebuild this loyalty – because together, we are truly One Nation Under God.
Thank you. God bless you.
